Pahalgam terror attack news live: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has called a special cabinet meeting this evening to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack, officials said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Kanpur on April 24, where he was to inaugurate and lay the foundation for development projects worth over Rs 20,000 crore, has been cancelled.
The cancellation comes in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed several lives, including that of Shubham, a brave young man from Kanpur.
Home Minister Amit Shah, around noon today, visited Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam, the site of Tuesday’s horrific terror attack that left at least 26 people dead. Arriving by chopper, Shah reviewed the ground situation and was briefed by senior officials on the ongoing investigation and security measures in place.
In a tweet, he stated, “With a heavy heart, paid last respects to the deceased of the Pahalgam terror attack. Bharat will not bend to terror. The culprits of this dastardly terror attack will not be spared.”
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, a while ago, expressed sorrow over the mass departure of tourists following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam.
Calling the exodus “heartbreaking but understandable,” Abdullah took to microblogging site X, informing that steps are being taken to assist those choosing to leave.
He said the DGCA and Civil Aviation Ministry are coordinating additional flights, while NH-44 between Srinagar and Jammu has been partially reopened for one-way traffic.
Abdullah has directed the administration to facilitate controlled tourist movement, noting that the highway remains unstable in sections and efforts are on to clear stranded vehicles.
Later today, PM Modi will chair a CCS meeting at 6 pm after Home Minister Amit Shah reviews the Pahalgam attack site. In Srinagar, after paying his tributes to the victims of the terrorist attack, Home Minister Amit Shah met their families.
In Baramulla district, security forces, this morning, successfully foiled an infiltration attempt and eliminated two terrorists in the ongoing operation. A heavy exchange of fire took place between the forces and the terrorists.
In national capital Delhi, immediately upon his arrival early morning today, PM Modi held a high-level security briefing at the airport with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra to assess the situation following the deadly terror attack.
